Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Whiskey is the Whiskey Row bottling that recreates the 1910 bottling-line fire: mature bourbon went back into a second, lightly toasted, heavily charred barrel at 100 proof so more wood sugar dissolved, then it was bottled at 93 proof. That second char is why this Louisville whiskey tastes like oatmeal-raisin cookie and mocha. It belongs in a spirit-forward cocktail.
Buttercream, sticky toffee, and baked apple open, with roasted coffee underneath. The sip is smooth and rounded: oatmeal-raisin cookie, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mocha. The finish is viscous, then slightly dry, with spice and smoky charred oak.
