Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2022 is the limited 22nd Birthday Bourbon, released for George Garvin Brown: 11-year barrels from one day's 2011 production, bottled at 96 proof, from a mash of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley. Eleven years in new charred oak is why roasted coffee and dark chocolate show up beside caramelized orange peel. Use it in a spirit-forward cocktail.
Caramelized orange peel and cherry open on vanilla bean, graham cracker, and cedar. Subtle fruit turns to roasted coffee, dark chocolate, and cocoa in a smooth, medium body. The finish is light and velvety, mocha and lingering chocolate still standing out on the palate.
