Russell’s Reserve Single Rickhouse Camp Nelson F Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the 2023 limited release from Wild Turkey: barrels from the center-cut fourth and fifth floors of Camp Nelson rickhouse F, aged over ten years, bottled at barrel-proof 117.6 and non-chill filtered. Rickhouse F was built in the 1940s on the Camp Nelson campus; Eddie Russell pulled this dump for spice and dark fruit from that building’s middle floors. Ten-plus years in new char is the clove, caramel, and chocolate cherry on the palate. It is an after-dinner dram.
Chocolate cherry, brown sugar, and molasses lead, then clove, orange peel, and dark fruit fill a robust sip with caramel apple and cola. The finish is long: honey, baking spice, tobacco, and mature wood. At 117.6 proof it drinks spicy and vinous, with white pepper standing out on the palate after the sweetness.
