The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky spends fourteen years in traditional whisky oak, then a finish in American oak casks that held a blend of West Indian rums. The rum wood is what you taste as creamy toffee, tropical fruit, and molasses on top of Balvenie's honeyed malt. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV), it stays easy without losing that rum sweetness. It is a weeknight pour.
Creamy toffee and fresh fruit open, then vanilla, honeyed oak, and dried pear fill a round sip. Molasses, caramel, and butterscotch ride through the middle. The finish is soft and lingering, sweet oak and fruit fading slowly.
