The Glenlivet 25 Year Old XXV Single Malt Scotch Whisky is a limited batch 25-year malt aged about twenty-three years, then finished two years in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts that the distillers watch cask by cask so the sherry polishes rather than floods the fruit. Twenty-five years and that Oloroso soak give it a silky weight at 86 proof. Save it for a slow evening pour.
Dark chocolate and dried sultanas lead, with fig and cinnamon filling a silky sip. Toffee, honeyed citrus, and walnut stand out on the palate. Sherry spice and a last flicker of almond hang on a long, opulent finish.
