The Macallan 12 Year Old Triple Cask Matured Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky marries three 12-year parcels: European sherry-seasoned oak, American sherry-seasoned oak, and American ex-bourbon barrels. The bourbon wood lifts citrus and vanilla; the sherry woods add nutmeg and toasted oak. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV). Built for a spirit-forward cocktail.
Melon and lemon zest open, with vanilla and light toasted oak behind them. Nutmeg and papaya stand out on the palate; the mouthfeel is medium and easy, and the finish lingers on melon, fresh wood, and spice.
