The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the Speyside 18 that built its name on sherry-seasoned European oak from Jerez. Eighteen years in those casks is why dried fruit, ginger, and dark chocolate come through, with natural mahogany color from the wood alone. Distilled in the distillery's curiously small stills on the Macallan Estate and bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV), it is tightly allocated each year. Pour it as an after-dinner dram.
Dried fruit, ginger, and vanilla lead, then clove, orange, and dates stand out on the palate with a soft, rich body. Dark chocolate rides the sip. The finish lingers on dried fruit, ginger, and orange zest.
