The Yamazaki 12 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky is Suntory's flagship single malt from Japan's first and oldest malt distillery, at the mountain cape where three rivers meet southwest of Kyoto. American oak is why vanilla and coconut feel generous; Spanish oak adds depth; Mizunara is the sandalwood and clove people remember. Bottled at 86 proof (43% ABV) and allocated. Ripe peach, pineapple, and grapefruit open, then coconut, cranberry, and butter coat a soft sip. Clove and candied orange ride through. Sweet ginger and cinnamon linger on a long, faintly incense-like finish.
