Auchentoshan Three Wood Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Auchentoshan Three Wood Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky starts with the distillery’s triple distillation, which keeps the Clydebank spirit lively and light, then piles three woods on that frame. It matures in American bourbon oak, moves into Oloroso sherry, and finishes in Pedro Ximénez, so blackcurrant, plum, and raisin sit on a lively Lowland malt. This is core Auchentoshan, with no age statement, bottled at 86 proof.
Blackcurrant, plum, raisin, and brown sugar open it, then hazelnut, cinnamon, and butterscotch, with toffee and dark chocolate showing up once independent pours get past the brand card. The arrival is smooth and fruity. Oak sweetness runs long, and more than one reviewer finds that close drier and more tannic than the distillery’s “oaky sweetness” line suggests.
