Aultmore 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 92 Proof is the age-stated malt from a Speyside distillery that spent most of a century inside Dewar’s blends. Water comes off the Foggie Moss, through bracken, gorse, and heather, and this malt is aged 12 years in refill casks so the grassy, herbal spirit stays in front of the oak. It is non-chill-filtered, natural color, and bottled at 92 proof.
Crisp apple and pear lead, with rosemary, thyme, and a floral or hay note, then honey, vanilla, and malt biscuit. The mouthfeel is silky, with a creamy edge once it opens. The finish is medium: fruit dries toward heather, pepper, and a little wood.
