Bardstown Bourbon Company Discovery Series No. 12 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 115.2 Proof is a limited all-Kentucky blend at 115.2 proof. Nearly half of it, 48%, is bourbon aged 14 years at 75% corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley, the mashbill Bourbon Culture reads as Wild Turkey barrels. Alongside that are two Kentucky bourbons aged 10 years, 29% at 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley, and 15% at 78% corn, 13% rye, and 9% malted barley. The last 8% is Bardstown’s own four-grain whiskey aged 6 years, with wheat in the mash, which keeps the older oak sweet and silky at this proof.
Bardstown tastes baked cherry, toasted oak, vanilla cream, and hazelnut, then coconut, red fruit, and caramel. Breaking Bourbon found apricot, peach, sweet oak, and toasted hazelnut, with a baked cherry-pie finish, barrel char, and brown sugar. The Bourbon Road called it warm, buttery, and silky, with cherry, orange, and brown sugar.
