Black Tot Master’s Reserve 2024 Blended Rum
Bottled at cask strength, 109 proof (54.5% ABV), this multi-island Caribbean blend has weight and heat without losing its fruit. Honey leads, thick and warm, and mango follows close behind with a bright edge of citrus cutting through it. Toasted coconut sits underneath, quietly, the way it does in older tropical rum.
The blend rests in ex-bourbon oak and in a perpetual reserve of rum, where each year's liquid takes on some of the character of what came before it. That gives the 2024 release its depth: vanilla softening the oak, spice building on the finish rather than announcing itself early.
It is additive free, so what you taste is the spirit and the wood and nothing added afterward. At this strength it stands up in a daiquiri or an old fashioned, though it loses none of its detail sipped straight from the 750 mL bottle.
