Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky
Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky is Sazerac’s single-barrel Canadian whisky, bottled at 80 proof with no age statement. Master blender Drew Mayville selects one mature barrel at a time from a large Canadian inventory the brand puts at about 200,000 barrels, and that cask is bottled on its own. Canadian whisky writer Davin de Kergommeaux described it as the first single-barrel Canadian whisky from a major company since the 19th century. It is an ongoing single-barrel bottling, so one barrel’s vanilla and cream are the whole whiskey.
Whisky Advocate called it richer and creamier than most Canadian whisky at this strength: vanilla, crème brûlée, toasted marshmallow, tangerine, peaches and cream, and gentle rye spice, velvety and light. Breaking Bourbon found caramel, marshmallow, and a faint grain note, with a short finish of vanilla and light oak. Vanilla, caramel, and that creamy sweetness carry the sip, with citrus and soft rye at the edges.
