Crown Royal Golden Apple 23 Year Old Canadian Whisky is a limited blend of whiskies aged 23 years, then flavored with Golden Delicious apple and bottled at 80 proof. That apple is the point of this bottle, and it is not Crown Royal Regal Apple: the whisky underneath has spent more than two decades in oak, so caramel, vanilla, and toasted wood show through the fruit instead of sour-candy syrup. It is a 2023 Master Series release from Gimli, built for a slow neat pour rather than a mixer.
Fresh and baked apple lead, with caramel and creamy vanilla close behind. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and toasted oak keep the sweetness in check. The mouthfeel is viscous and polished. The finish is warm and lingering, maple and light spice over the last of the apple.
