Four Roses 2020 Limited Edition Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the annual cask-strength vatting from Lawrenceburg: 30% 12-year OBSV, 25% 12-year OESV, 25% 16-year OESK, and 20% 19-year OBSK, non-chill filtered at 111.4 proof. Brent Elliott used an unusually large share of 19-year OBSK because those barrels still showed fruit instead of dry oak, which is why this year drinks brighter than a typical high-age dump. Distinct from the 2021 berry-and-chocolate blend and the 2024 OESF herbal vatting. Ready for a fireside pour or a stirred whiskey cocktail.
Apple, orange peel, honey, and vanilla lead, then apricot, pear, and red berry on a soft, viscous sip. Rye spice, candied orange, and light oak close with a smooth finish of fruit and dusty oak.
