New charred American oak did the slow work here, holding whiskey from 13–19 years old before it was batched and bottled without dilution. That long stretch in wood shows up as antique oak and a low hum of rye spice underneath everything else, the kind of depth that only comes from barrels left alone for a while.
Apricot leads, bright and a little sweet, with citrus lifting behind it. Vanilla and caramel fill in the body, and there is a crème brûlée richness to the texture that keeps the fruit from feeling thin. Black tea runs through the finish, tannic and dry, pulling the sweetness back into balance.
At 109 proof (54.5% ABV) it drinks warm but not hot, and a single large cube opens the fruit without washing out the oak. Bottled at 750 mL from Kentucky.
