Glenfiddich 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the Dufftown flagship William Grant built the category on: twelve years in American bourbon and Spanish sherry oak, then married in oak tuns, bottled at 80 proof. Robbie Dhu spring water and a high cut point keep it on fresh fruit instead of heavy malt. This 1.75 L bottle is the same 12-year whisky as the 750 mL. The 12 is the house in its simplest form — pear and cream, not sherried weight. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Pear and sweet fruit lead, then butterscotch, cream, and malt, with only a thread of oak. The texture is light and the finish is long, smooth, and mellow rather than dry. It drinks clean and easy at 80 proof: the fruit stays in front, the casks stay in the background.
