Glenfiddich 18 Year Old Small Batch Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glenfiddich 18 Year Old Small Batch Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky spends eighteen years in Spanish Oloroso and American oak, then at least three months in wooden marrying tuns, bottled at 86 proof in numbered small batches. That extra strength and the Oloroso share are what separate it from the 80-proof 12 and the Solera 15. Eighteen years of sherry wood usually means dried fruit and spice; the American oak keeps orchard fruit in the glass instead of turning the malt into a dessert bomb. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Ripe orchard fruit and baked apple lead, then dried fruit, dates, and candied peel over cinnamon and robust oak. The texture is soft and a little syrupy, the spice gentle, the finish warming.
