Glenfiddich Winter Storm 21 Year Old is Experimental Series #03: twenty-one-year Dufftown malt finished up to six months in French oak icewine casks from Peller Estate in Niagara. Brian Kinsman found only whisky this old had the tannin to take that concentrated wine without being swamped, which is why lychee shows instead of plain syrup. Limited to two batches, bottled at 86 proof. Easy to keep on the bar for weeknight sipping.
Tropical fruit and candied sweets open, then mouthwatering lychee and Turkish delight. Vanilla sits underneath. The icewine turns the palate drying — wine tannin against the candy — and the finish is short, crisp, and clean.
