Heaven’s Door Bootleg Series Volume I 26 Year Old Mizunara Cask Finished Whisky is the 2019 first volume of Bob Dylan's limited Bootleg Series: a 26-year Canadian whisky, low-rye, aged about a quarter century in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished about six months in Japanese Mizunara oak toasted between medium and medium-plus. Numbered ceramic bottles wear Dylan's Train Tracks painting and sit in a leather journal. Bottled at barrel strength, 111.5 proof. Mizunara is why coconut, clove incense, and sandalwood sit on the old whisky. This is a bottle for sipping with friends who will linger.
Coconut, honey, and vanilla frosting lead, with clove incense, coriander, and a little sour cherry. The palate is powerful and medium-bodied: almond, dark chocolate, and oak char. Spice and incense hang on a long finish.
