Horse Soldier Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Horse Soldier Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the 95-proof Signature bottle: a wheated mash of yellow dent corn, red winter wheat, and malted barley, blended in small lots, left unfiltered, and bottled by American Freedom Distillery in St. Petersburg. Wheat in the mash is why it drinks softer than a rye-recipe bourbon of the same proof, with cherry and ginger standing out on the palate. Double Gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Pour it over ice.

Butterscotch, ginger, and cherries on the nose. Caramel, nutmeg, and oak fill a full, oily sip, with roasted corn, pecan toffee, and a dusting of powdered ginger. The finish is long and warm: dark fruit, cinnamon, and seasoned oak.
