Kentucky Peerless Toasted Bourbon Whiskey starts in char-3 Kelvin oak — caramel, brown sugar, toffee — then finishes in a medium-toast barrel chosen for fewer tannins and more aroma. Head Taster John Wadell chose a medium toast for honey, vanilla, and toasted spice. Sweet-mashed in Louisville, never chill-filtered, bottled at barrel proof (recent dumps around 109.4). IWSC gave it Outstanding Gold in 2024. Save it for an after-dinner dram.
Vanilla leads, with caramel and toffee from the first barrel and honey and toasted spice from the second. Chocolate hangs on a long, aromatic finish; dark cherry shows as it opens. The sip is warm and dessert-leaning without turning cloying.
