Method and Madness Single Malt Irish Whiskey is a 14-year malt laid down at Midleton in 2002, matured in bourbon barrels and finished in French Limousin oak, bottled at 92 proof (46% ABV). The Limousin wood is what you taste as cracked cinnamon, toasted barley, and ice-cream-cone wafer. Save it for after dinner.
Freshly shelled peanut and cereal malt open, then cinnamon, vanilla, honey, and wafer. The sip is satiny — pecan, granola, ginger, pepper — with toasted barley and fragrant bonbons on a warming, slightly dry finish.
