This one starts as añejo and extra añejo tequila aged in American oak, blended together and then charcoal filtered until the color drops away. What's left is clear liquid carrying a year of barrel time, made from Blue Weber agave grown in the Jalisco Highlands.
Cooked agave is still the anchor, sweet and vegetal, with vanilla and caramel sitting right alongside it rather than covering it up. Dried fruit shows up underneath, and a little oak and soft spice keep the sweetness from going flat. At 80 proof it's an easy pour, soft in texture and short on burn.
Useful bottle to keep around. It drinks well on its own over ice, and it won't get lost in a cocktail that calls for something smoother than a blanco. The 750 mL bottle is the standard size for a home bar.
