Chicken Cock Kentucky Straight Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey uses the same 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley mash as the straight bourbon and is bottled at 100 proof. Gregg Snyder pulls fewer than 10 barrels for each batch from the second and fifth floors of the Bardstown rickhouse, and each batch is aged at least 4 years in level 3 char oak. The higher proof and the short blend turn that recipe thicker, toward butterscotch and orange. When a batch is gone, the next one replaces it, and the barrel count is marked on the bottle.

Orange zest, butterscotch, and honey coat the palate, with vanilla and a ginger-clove spice. The mouthfeel is creamy. The finish moves through apricot and toffee toward red apple skin.
