Blindfold Chardonnay
Dry, bright and textured, with fresh acidity and a creamy edge. This is a medium- to full-bodied Chardonnay that balances freshness with richness. The nose shows lime zest, yuzu and jasmine, with a hint of minerality. The palate brings green citrus, green apple and lychee, with toasted hazelnut. Barrel fermentation and lees stirring give a soft, rounded texture. The finish is long and indulgent.
Blindfold is the white wine label of The Prisoner Wine Company in Napa Valley. The current Chardonnay comes from Sonoma County’s cool Russian River Valley. The grapes are picked for acidity rather than sugar, as lime and green-apple flavors begin to emerge. The fruit is hand-picked and whole-cluster pressed, then fermented in French oak barrels, a portion of them new. The lees are stirred regularly during roughly 11 months of élevage. It is 100% Chardonnay, bottled at around 14.5% ABV in a 750 mL bottle.
Serve lightly chilled with roast chicken or seared scallops.
