Bowmore Darkest 15 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the sherry-led 15-year-old, bottled at 86 proof. It matures in ex-bourbon casks, then takes a secondary rest in Oloroso sherry casks, the step Whisky Advocate timed at 3 years. That sherry stretch is what deepens the color and pushes raisin, treacle, and dark chocolate in front of Bowmore's softer peat.
Raisin, dates, and dark chocolate lead, with treacle toffee and cedar beside cocktail cherry. Whisky Advocate found dry oak against the peat, then a lingering finish of sherry, brine, soft peat, and allspice. The body is rich, and the smoke stays a low ember.
