Barrels are emptied and batched with no water added, so the high-rye bourbon recipe Tom Bulleit published, 68 percent corn, 28 percent rye, and 4 percent malted barley, shows up as spice and oak at full strength. Bulleit bottled Batch 4 at Stitzel-Weller in Louisville from sourced whiskey. It is a limited batch.
Rye spice and nutmeg lead, with sweet oak, caramel, and toffee, plus citrus and a little apple. The body is full and round, and pepper opens up as you hold it. The finish is dry and long, oak and rye spice over brown sugar and vanilla.
