Calumet Farm 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Calumet Farm 12 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the current Single Rack Black from Western Spirits, bottled at 102 proof by Three Springs in Bowling Green. Nineteen barrels from one center-cut rickhouse rack are blended for each batch, every bottle is numbered, and each batch stays under 3,500 bottles. The mash is 74 percent corn, 18 percent rye, and 8 percent malted barley, barreled in 2014 and aged 12 years. Drawing one rack is why the rye spice and oak char hit first and the tannin stays smoky. The Beverage Testing Institute scored this 102-proof bottling 95 points in 2026.
The brand tastes strong rye spice, oak char, and smoky tannin, with hay and baking spice on the nose and a warm, short finish of oak and spice. The same year’s BevTest panel found cinnamon bark, milk chocolate, and a creamier, longer close, with s’mores and butter pecan in the aroma. Rye, char, and baking spice are the notes both accounts share.
