Chicken Cock Cotton Club 20 Year Old Canadian Rye Whiskey is a limited Canadian rye whiskey, aged 20 years and bottled at 100 proof. The mash is 90% rye and 10% malted barley, matured in used bourbon barrels, and Grain & Barrel Spirits released 1,595 six-bottle cases. It honors the years when this was the house whiskey at Harlem's Cotton Club and the whiskey traveled in sealed tins. Two decades in used barrels, rather than new charred oak, leave the rye grassy and bright. The age shows up as dry oak at the end.
Orange peel, vanilla, and grassy rye come first, with white pepper and honey close behind. Toasted oak stays quiet until the close. The body is lighter than 20 years suggests, buttery up front, then drier and peppery as it finishes.
