De Luze X.O Fine Champagne Cognac
Bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV), this is a Cognac built for regular pouring rather than special occasions. Fine Champagne means the blend draws on the two best crus of the region, and the base here is Ugni Blanc, the white grape that gives Cognac its clean, bright spine.
Fig leads, soft and jammy, with orange peel cutting through it. Underneath sits jasmine, faint but real, and a vanilla sweetness that rounds off the edges. The finish turns darker: chocolate, walnut, and the dry grip of polished oak from years in French Limousin barrels.
It drinks easily neat at room temperature, and it holds up in a highball with soda if you want something longer. A 750 mL bottle that earns its place on the back shelf and gets used.
