El Tesoro Mundial Collection Basil Hayden Edition Añejo Tequila
Cooked agave comes through first, sweet and green the way it smells straight off the oven, with vanilla and caramel settling in behind it. Underneath sits a soft note of toasted grain, a mark of the Basil Hayden Toast bourbon barrel finish this añejo was moved into. Cinnamon and a light pepper tingle keep the sweetness honest through the finish.
The agave is Blue Weber, grown in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, and the spirit is additive free — what you taste is the agave and the wood, nothing else. Six months of age gives it a gentle amber weight without burying the plant it came from. At 80 proof (40% ABV) it stays approachable, easy to sip slowly on a weeknight.
Distilled in 2024 and bottled at 750 mL. Serve it neat in a small tumbler; ice mutes the caramel more than it helps.
