Glenmorangie A Tale of the Forest Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenmorangie makes Highland single malt in a soft, approachable register, and this bottling stays true to that. Vanilla leads, sweet and rounded, with coconut sitting just behind it in a way that reads more like toasted pastry than anything tropical. Citrus lifts the whole thing, keeping the sweetness from settling too heavily.

Underneath there is a thread of light molasses, gentle rather than dark or treacly, and the finish turns clean and peppery before it fades. At 80 proof (40% ABV) it drinks easily, without the heat that can make higher-strength malts a chore on a weeknight. This is a bottle you open and pour rather than study.

It suits neat pouring, and it holds up in a highball if that is how you take your Scotch. The 750 mL bottle is a sensible everyday size for the back bar at home.
