Black cherry and plum make this blend fleshy and easy to approach, while blackberry keeps the fruit dark. Dry and full-bodied, with soft tannins, it has enough presence after a decant. Tobacco, cedar and vanilla give the finish a warm spice edge without covering the fruit.
Ruffino, Toscana IGT, Italy; Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon; 12 months in French barriques; about 15% ABV; 750 ml.
Decant 45–60 minutes. Drink now or cellar into the early 2030s; serve at 60–64°F with steak or wild boar ragù.
