Blackberry and blueberry make this Shiraz generous from the first sip, while crushed herbs keep the fruit from turning jammy. Dry and full-bodied, with supple tannins and lively acidity, it has enough presence for a regular red-wine glass. Cocoa and vanilla lengthen the finish without burying the berries.
Saldo, meaning “I join” in Italian, is the exploratory label of The Prisoner Wine Company. This bottling sources 95% Shiraz and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from premier South Australian regions including Barossa, Clare Valley and the Limestone Coast, where Mediterranean climate and alluvial soils build depth while keeping the wine approachable. Bottled at 14.9% ABV in a 750 mL bottle.
Serve slightly below room temperature with grilled lamb, barbecue or hearty stews.
