Aultmore 18 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 92 Proof gives the same Foggie Moss spirit aged 18 years in refill oak, long enough for banana, vanilla, and a dusting of cocoa to show up without covering the apple-and-herb house style. John Dewar & Sons bottles it in the Last Great Malts range at 92 proof. Dewar’s own shop calls it uncommon in the UK. It is a core age statement with more years in refill wood, and that wood is why the fruit stays bright while a little cocoa arrives.
Apple, pear, and banana are the notes that repeat, with vanilla or honey, fresh herbs, citrus, and cocoa nibs. The body is rounder than the 12. Malt Review called an early bottle voluptuous for an Aultmore, still on lemon, apple, and custard rather than heavy wood. The finish is gently spiced, with malt and a little cocoa hanging on.
