Blindfold Blanc de Noir

Dry, crisp and delicate. This is a light- to medium-bodied still white wine made from red grapes, with a faint salmon hue. The nose shows citrus, white peach and white flowers. The palate brings stone fruit, melon and a hint of tart cranberry. There is no oak to speak of. The acidity is bright and mouthwatering, and the finish is clean and zesty, with a mineral edge.

Blindfold is the white wine label of The Prisoner Wine Company. Its Blanc de Noir is a still wine, not a sparkler: early-picked, hand-harvested Pinot Noir from California’s North Coast is sent directly to the press, limiting skin contact so the juice stays nearly white while keeping Pinot’s aromatics. Some vintages include small amounts of Viognier and Gewürztraminer for texture. It is bottled at 12.5% ABV in a 750 mL bottle.

Drink young and serve well chilled with oysters, crab, lobster or roasted white fish.
