Buchanan’s Deluxe 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky is the blend James Buchanan consulted on, now a Diageo blended Scotch aged 12 years and bottled at 80 proof. First called Buchanan’s Finest Liqueur, it was built softer and fresher than the heavy blends around it. Grain whisky and malt sit together so orange and chocolate stay light, with toffee rather than a sherry-heavy weight.
Soft fruit and orange come through before the chocolate. Toffee and almond follow, then spice and hazelnut. The mouthfeel is smooth and rounded, and the finish brings more of the grain and a roasted spice.
