The Prisoner Cabernet Sauvignon
Dry, dark, bold and plush. This is a full-bodied Cabernet with ripe, generous fruit and a soft, round texture. The nose shows cassis, blackberry and purple plum. The palate brings blackberry pie, dark plum and hints of bay leaf and cracked pepper. Oak adds toasted vanilla and warm baking spice. The tannins are supple and the finish is sturdy and lingering.
The Prisoner Wine Company built its name on unconventional Napa Valley blends, and its Cabernet Sauvignon applies that same house style to Napa’s signature grape. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, with small portions of Syrah, Petite Sirah and Malbec adding color, depth and spice. The wine sees extended skin contact for structure and is aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels. It is bottled at 15% ABV in a 750 mL bottle.
Approachable on release, with the richness to hold for several years. Serve just below room temperature with grilled steak, braised short ribs or aged cheddar.
